Porcelain Tiles
Porcelain is created by heating raw materials, usually clay to extremely high temperatures. The formation of glass and mullite during these high temperatures cause porcelain to be tough, hard and strong. Porcelain tiles also have a high resistance to chemicals and thermal shock (cracking due to quick temperature changes).
Porcelain tiles wth a Porcelain Enamel Institute rating of 5, the highest rating, are the toughest most hard wearing tiles posssible. This makes them even suitable for outdoor floors or commercial areas of heavy foot traffic. Examples of such tile ranges are Metalli floor tiles by BCT and all the ranges by Gambarelli.
